One of my favorite childhood memories was visiting Southern California water parks with all my closest friends. Every year we would pack in the back of the Suburban and head up the 5 freeway to our wet and wild destination. With those memories still fresh from oh so many years ago, I can hardly stand the anticipation and excitement for the NEW Water Park at LEGOLAND California. The fun my kids are going to have splishing and splashing their way through the water-soaked-slides is unmatched by anything they’ve experienced so far.
The new LEGOLAND Water Park includes a family raft slide, enclosed tube slides and toddler slides, plus a zoo-themed water play area for toddlers and an interactive water play zone. The most unique feature is the Build-A-Raft River where kids customize their own raft made of soft LEGO bricks before floating down a lazy river. Adding the creative play of building with LEGO bricks to the uninhibited joy of careening down a water slide is a perfect formula for fun.
I’m not sure who is more excited, my kids or me. For more information on the Water Park, check out www.LEGOLANDWaterPark.com.

Recently my three-year-old daughter has developed a fascination with all things princess. So last week, when we were having lunch at the Knight’s Table Barbeque in Castle Hill, which has amazing BBQ chicken & ribs by the way, Lily spotted the “Princess For A Day” booth and began to squeal with the excitement of a tween at a Justin Beiber concert.
I could not resist the “pretty please” looks from both my girls, so I wrangled my entire play group, and we sat down for some face painting, hair braiding and caricature drawings.
First we sat for a caricature of my two girls. Our artist Jonathan, who has been a cartoon artist since the age of five, asked them what kind of theme they wanted and was not surprised when they answered princesses and butterflies; I’m pretty sure he hears that a lot. He made the girls giggle in the chairs and had the drawing finished in less than ten minutes.
Then we were off to the face painting booth, which is a dream come true for any little girl. Even my one and half year old loved it. And the little princes in the group went crazy for the dragons and snakes. The face painting range from $10.00-$17.00 but best value is the princess package which includes a princess dress, a hair wrap and face painting for $75.00.
There are several hair wrap, face painting and caricature stations located all throughout the Park. What a great way to add some magic to the theme park experience and have something special to take away at the end of the day.

At the heart of all memorable theme park visits is the thrill and excitement of a good rollercoaster. LEGOLAND® California has three rollercoaster, which are all a blast, and will certainly be the highlight of your visit.
First off, to dispel urban legend, the rollercoasters at LEGOLAND are NOT made out of LEGO® bricks, however they are all surrounded by creative, intricately designed LEGO models for you to enjoy as you click, click, click your way to the top of the first drop.
Coastersaurus is located just to the left of the entrance in Dino Island and is perfect for the entire family, including the toddlers. My older daughter rode it when she was two and a half and loved every second of it. It has all of the elements of a standard rollercoaster with just a little less speed and not as many steep dips. It’s a perfect introduction to the world of coaster riding for your little ones.
The Dragon coaster has a taller height requirement than the Coastersaurus, which my three and a half year old just met. We rode it for the first time last week and though she was a bit trepidatious at first, by the end she was screaming, “again, again!” The Dragon Coaster is located in Castle Hill.
For the older, braver coaster riders, LEGO Technic Coaster is the quintessential coaster. It’s fast and steep and exhilarating from beginning to end. If your kids are into coasters, this is the one for you.
