The most frequent question I get asked when people know my affiliation with LEGOLANDÒ California is, “is there enough to do for my toddler?” and I always answer with a resounding “YES!” I’ve been taking both my girls there since they were less than a year old and we have all the “what to do when you’re two” activities nailed. But beginning in May, there will be one more area, just for little ones, to add to our must-do list. It’s called Splash Zoo and it will be located inside the LEGOLAND Water Park.
Just like Swabbies Deck located in Pirate Shores, the new Splash Zoo will have water fountains and splash pads, along with a teeter totter that the kids can play on. The DUPLOÒ Zoo themed area will also feature giant DUPLO animals including a lion, a giraffe and a zebra, and will be located right next to Kid Creek and DUPLO Splash Safari. If your kids are like mine, it will be hard to get their soaked little bodies away from the puddles of fun. And if it’s one of SoCal’s super hot days, you’re not gonna want to leave either! Don’t forget your Crocs, sunscreen and swim diapers, but if you do, you can purchase them there at the retail outlets or the Nanny Caddies. Let the countdown til’ May begin!

When my girls and I are at the Park, we spend a lot of our time in Fun Town, not only for the Driving School cars, the hot dogs at Fun Town Market or the shopping at Brick Brothers, but mainly for the Firemen. Did I say that? What I meant was, the Fire Academy, we love the Fun Town Fire Academy. Now that my littlest daughter is 36” tall, it is a ride that we can all do together; my kids love spraying the water and I love the competition aspect.
Last week on our trip to the Park I was a bit worried when I saw that the Fun Town Fire Academy ride was closed. I quickly did some research to learn that they are renovating the ride to include a police themed vehicles so kids can not only put out fires, but they can also stop “bad guys.” This is the Park’s way of paying homage to both the Police and Fire Departments, as their motto at LEGOLAND California is, “everyone can be a hero.”
So no need for dismay if you see that the Fun Town Fire Academy attraction is closed for the next few months: It will be re-opening as the Fun Town Police and Fire Academy by Spring Break, with a revamped shout-out to our local heroes and even more fun for the kiddos!
